Bubble construction is weather-dependent, so please contact the customer service desk to verify re-opening planned for 12pm on Saturday, October 20.

Theatre & Dance Classes

Drama, music, dance and art classes for all ages.  Involvement in the visual and performing arts boosts self-confidence, relieves stress and creates memories and friendships that last a lifetime.

Preschool & Elementary Age Classes

J Steps Ballet/Tap: 4–5 year olds
A fun class that will expose our young dancers to the styles of ballet and tap. Classical skills are integrated with creative movement. Ongoing class runs once a week through the end of May, with an optional recital at the end of the year.  Click here to enroll.

J Steps Tiny Dancer: 3 year olds
Our littlest boys and girls will enjoy an active class in which they can stomp, spin, shake and express their creative sides. Ongoing class runs once a week through the end of May, with an optional recital at the end of the year.  Click here to enroll.

J Steps Dance Explosion: K–5th Grade
Boys and girls will enjoy an active and fun introductory class that will expose them to all styles of dance, including jazz, hip hop, tap and ballet.  Click here to enroll.

J Stage Jr.: K–3rd Grade
Young artists will work together to mount a musical production over the course of 3 months. Students can choose to audition for featured roles or be in the ensemble and also create scenery, props, and costumes. Enjoy skill building activities in improvisation, creative movement, and playwriting, as well as guided instruction in visual art projects. 

J Play: Learn through the Arts: 3-6 year olds 
Make learning FUN through the arts! Reading, writing and math skills will be reinforced through play – with music, theatre, and visual arts as we bring favorite stories and books to life. Our littlest artists will enjoy experimenting with different art mediums as well as creative drama activities.  

Teen & Adult Classes

Bellydance Level 1-4: Ages 14+
Beginner through advances class emphasizes technique and choreography. Soft shoes, comfortable dancewear and exercise mats needed.

Israeli Dance: Ages 18+ (younger students admitted with permission of instructor)
Dance the traditional favorites, as well as the latest hits from Israel. No partner needed. All levels welcome.


Upstream Arts Residency Program: Fall 2018

Two FREE programs brought to you by Upstream Arts and the Levine JCC Cultural Arts Department.  Upstream Arts uses the power of the creative arts to activate and amplify the voice and choice of individuals with disabilities.  

The Art of Social Skills: Sessions for ages 5 - 13+

Learn how the arts can help you explore creative and positive ways of self expression! Through theatre, poetry, music and dance, we can develop social, emotional and communication skills vital to success in school, work and life. Registration is required. If you have a 1:1 Aid that supports you at home, school or in the community, feel free to bring them to participate with you. The Art of Success: Sessions for Caregivers & Families & Shalom Park Professionals 

Access isn’t only about ramps and sign language interpretation; access is an attitude! The Art of Access is an interactive workshop that examines how to design every day experiences, from classes of every variety, to performances, worship services or events, for people of all ages and abilities. We adapt this program for a wide range of participants—from family members, educators, support staff, care givers and organizations—anyone interested in using creative strategies to make day to day experiences either at home, at work, in the classroom or in the community, more accessible to people with disabilities.

Music Lessons

Music and children are a natural blend. We offer developmentally appropriate music programs for little ones. Stop in to observe all the ways in which music enhances their world! The fun never stops when you are catching the rhythm, singing out loud and playing your favorite song!

Electric & Acoustic Guitar 

Instructor Ricky Hitchcock is a British recording session guitarist with over15 years experience working with impressive clientele in Miami, FL, such as David Bowie, Billy Idol, Roger Daltry, as well as others! A digital recording studio is available to save your professionally mixed work forever. Skilled in songwriting, Ricky will teach you to compose your own original song.

Voice & Basic Piano

Mirela Ungureanu-Biser holds a Master’s Degree in Opera and Music Theatre. She has more than 10 years of teaching experience including college-level courses as well as music theatre courses for both adults and youth at a professional repertory theater. She also performed as a singer with Opera Memphis for six seasons.
