Kids (K-5th Grade)
We offer a variety of programs and classes for K-5th (5-10 year olds).
JHoops Elementary Academy: 3rd–5th Grade
Academy will focus on teaching individual skills with an opportunity to apply them immediately to game situations. New skills will be taught each week, followed by full court games in which your child will get detailed instruction as well as individual attention.
Beginning Gymnastics: K–3rd Grade
An introduction to the world of gymnastics. Learn the basics of all four Olympic events: Vault, Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Prior gymnastics experience not required.
Floor Hockey: K–5th Grade
Want a fast-paced, action-packed sport? Learn basic hockey skills, strategy and game play.
Taekwondo Classes: K–7th Grade
Teaches blocks, hand strikes, kicking, forms, self-defense, sparring combos, footwork and board breaking thru fitness drills, fun games and team activities. Students also practice discipline, focus, goal-setting, respect, positive attitude, honesty, teamwork and perseverance. (year round online registration not available)
Strong Girls Club: K–5th Grade
Focuses on important issues for young girls such as self-esteem, self-respect and self-defense. Includes anti-bully strategies, positive self- image exercises & community service. Students make great friends and perform random acts of kindness. (online registration not available)
Flag Football: K–3rd Grade
Introduces football basics, strategies and game play. Non-contact, non-competitive class.
Kids Yoga: K–5th Grade
Introduces children to Yoga postures in a class designed specifically for kids. Fun activities, games, breath and body awareness, music, and more!
Fencing Classes: K–5th Grade
Students will be introduced to learning the skills of attacking and defending with either the foil, epee or sabre. Fencers develop good coordination, balance and flexibility which makes this training an ideal means of keeping fit for all ages and abilities. Summer 2017 Fencing information click here.
Tennis Lessons: 5–18 year olds
Emphasizes stroke work, court knowledge, and games involving tennis skills.
Visual & Performing Arts Classes
J Stage Jr.: K–3rd Grade
Young artists will work together to mount a musical production over the course of 3 months. Students can choose to audition for featured roles or be in the ensemble and also create scenery, props, and costumes. Enjoy skill building activities in improvisation, creative movement, and playwriting, as well as guided instruction in visual art projects.
J Steps Dance Explosion: K–5th grade
Boys and girls will enjoy an active and fun introductory class that will expose them to all styles of dance, including jazz, hip hop, tap and ballet. (year round online registration not available)
Music Lessons: Ages 6 and up
Offering guitar, voice, basic piano and drum lessons.
Youth Group Swim Lessons: 5-10 year olds
Youth classes are great for children who have not had the opportunity to learn to swim at a young age as well as for those that wish to become better swimmers. Designed for children to learn in an environment appropriate to their age and developmental level.
Year Round Swim Team
We are a community-wide recreational swim program offering a supportive and flexible approach to swim team.
School's Out/J's In: K–5th Grade
Join us as we go on exciting field trips during days off from school. Bring a packed dairy lunch and a bathing suit and towel. (online registration not available)
J Tribes: K- 5th Grade and their dads
The J-Tribes is a father/child program designed to foster relations between fathers and their children in a fun and exciting way.
J Team: K - 5th Grade
Two-Time Winner (2008 & 2011) of a “Best of Best Award” by Charlotte Magazine for ‘Best place to send your kids afterschool’. 2014 Winner of “Gold Daisy Award” by Macaroni Kid for ‘Best After-School Program.’ Located in the Activity Centers at Camp Mindy, we are committed to providing a well-rounded experience for your child. Transportation to the Levine JCC from select locations. Homework is supervised by year-round trained staff. Daily activities include drama, arts & crafts, computer lab and more!
Elementary Edge at the LJCC offers a new childcare option for our members and their children ages 5 to 12 years old.
Parent's Night Out
Kid Tested, Parent Approved! Parent's Night Out is a fun-filled Saturday evening program offered 6 times a year. Open to JCC members only with children 7 weeks - 11 years old. Check back soon for 2017 PNO dates! (Online registration not available)
