The LJCC provides a fun, non-competitive learning environment year round for all sports classes that include:
Preschool Sport Classes
Gym-Bees: 3–5 year olds
Learn gymnastics on specially designed preschool equipment, gain confidence and learn in a playful environment. Develop tumbling skills, balance and upper/lower body coordination.
Preschool Basketball: 4–5 year olds
Introduces dribbling, passing, shooting and defense in non-competitive skill drills, games and actual play.
Preschool Kicks for Kids: 3–5 year olds
Rooted in a traditional taekwondo curriculum this class teaches balance, coordination, agility, core strength and reaction time. Kicks for Kidz also prides itself on developing discipline, respect, self-control, teamwork and a positive attitude. Students wear belts and earn colored skill stripes. After students earn all 6 stripes, they graduate to a new belt and break a board!
Preschool Sports Club: 3–5 year olds
Introduces basic sports skills through relays, stations, and sport activities that will enhance motor skills.
Stepping Stones T-Ball: 3-5 year olds
Play America’s favorite pastime sport. Fun, non-competitive class that teaches basic baseball skills
Zumba Kids Jr.: 4–6 year olds
Come join the dance party! Preschoolers will have a blast dancing to different sounds from around the world. They will explore new cultures and rhythms through games and movements.
Preschool Tennis: 3–5 year olds
Emphasizes gross motor skills, basic tennis information, and fun on the courts.
K-5th Grade Sport Classes
JHoops Elementary Academy: 3rd–5th Grade
Academy will focus on teaching individual skills with an opportunity to apply them immediately to game situations. New skills will be taught each week, followed by full court games in which your child will get detailed instruction as well as individual attention.
Beginning Gymnastics: K–3rd Grade
An introduction to the world of gymnastics. Learn the basics of all four Olympic events: Vault, Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Prior gymnastics experience not required.

Taekwondo Classes: K–7th Grade
Teaches blocks, hand strikes, kicking, forms, self-defense, sparring combos, footwork and board breaking thru fitness drills, fun games and team activities. Students also practice discipline, focus, goal-setting, respect, positive attitude, honesty, teamwork and perseverance.
Strong Girls Club: K–5th Grade
Focuses on important issues for young girls such as self-esteem, self-respect and self-defense. Includes anti-bully strategies, positive self- image exercises & community service. Students make great friends and perform random acts of kindness.
Flag Football: K–3rd Grade
Introduces football basics, strategies and game play. Non-contact, non-competitive class.
Kids Yoga: K–5th Grade
Introduces children to Yoga postures in a class designed specifically for kids. Fun activities, games, breath and body awareness, music, and more!
Fencing Classes: K–5th Grade
Students will be introduced to learning the skills of attacking and defending with either the foil, epee or sabre. Fencers develop good coordination, balance and flexibility which makes this training an ideal means of keeping fit for all ages and abilities.
Tennis Lessons: 5–18 year olds
Emphasizes stroke work, court knowledge, and games involving tennis skills.
Youth Basketball Leagues: Runs December - February
Micro Basketball - Ages: 4 and 5 year olds
In–house league. Meets Sunday afternoons January and February. Clinic-style basketball program with all basics of the game covered under skilled supervision. Smaller balls and goals used. Get ready for hoopsters.
Under 8 Hoopsters - Ages: 6 and 7 year olds
In-house league. Meets December through February. All practices and games are at the JCC (Levine Gymnasiums). Saturday afternoon practice. Sunday afternoon game. 8 players make up each team. 4 vs 4 on court for games. 8 & 1/2ft baskets – half court.
Under 10 Hoopsters - Ages: 8 and 7 year olds
In-house league. Meets December through February. All practices and games are at the JCC (Levine Gymnasiums). Saturday afternoon practice. Sunday afternoon game. 8-10 players make up each team. 5 vs 5 on court for games. 10ft baskets – full court.
Area recreational league. All practices are at the LJCC (Levine Gymnasiums). Games are at different churches throughout Charlotte and at LJCC (Levine Gymnasiums) for some age groups. 10-11 players make up each team.
- Ages: Girls: 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade (you cannot participate on these teams if you are on your school team)
- Boys: 4th grade (10 years old and up), 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8thgrade (you cannot participate on these teams if you are on your school team)
- Girls: 9th/10th grade, 11th/12th grade (you cannot play on these teams if you are on your school team)
- Boys: 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade (you cannot play on these teams if you are on your school team)
Youth Soccer Leagues
Runs two terms a year: Fall (September thru December) and Spring (March thru May)
Recreational, in-house league meets fall and spring on Sunday afternoons. All practices and games held at LJCC (Ostrow Family Soccer Field). 8 players make up each team. 4 vs 4 on field for games.
Junior Soccer - Ages: 6 and 7 year olds
Recreational, in-house league meets fall and spring on Sunday afternoons. All practices and games held at LJCC (Ostrow Family Soccer Field). 8 – 12 players make up each team. 6 vs 6, including goalie on field for games.
Kicker Soccer - Ages: 8 and 9 year olds
Recreational, in-house league meets fall and spring on Sunday afternoons. All practices and games held at LJCC (Ostrow Family Soccer Field). 6 - 10 players make up each team. 5vs 5, including goalie on field for games.
LJCC teams play in Charlotte Area recreational league meets fall and spring. 2 practices a week at the LJCC (Ostrow Family Soccer Field) and games on Saturday afternoons at various fields. 10-15 players make up each team.
- Under 8: 4 players on the field at a time (no goalie),
- Under 10: 6 players play on field at a time, including goalie.
- Under 12: 8 players on play on field, at a time, including goalie, and Under 14- 11 players at a time, including goalie.
