Job Description :

The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte. 


This is a part-time position responsible for providing safe, quality and on-time transportation services for our Senior Adults and members of the LJCC Oasis Senior Enrichment Program. The candidate will be involved in meal delivery and working with our staff to create positive experiences for our Senior participants.

Candidates are expected to drive for monthly field trips and other times when needed and pre-scheduled. The candidate must be able to have a flexible schedule.

Applicant must be able to demonstrate reliable transportation. Applicant must be able a to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug test and be subject to post-employment random drug screening.

A CDL is not required for this position, but having one is a plus.

Job Requirements :

The Bus Driver will have a polite, clear and consistent attitude required for giving instructions to all entrants to the bus. The Bus Driver must:

  • Obey all Federal, State and Local laws, policies, regulations and transportation operation guidelines.
  • Obey all traffic laws; observe all mandatory safety regulations. This includes educating riders quickly in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintain safe driver standards and applicable physical and dexterity standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of routes and schedules.
  • Answer and/or direct riders’ questions as needed.
  • Greet and assist members/riders upon entering or exiting the bus in a professional, courteous and cheerful manner.
  • Perform pre and post-inspection activities to include, but not limited to: mechanical defects, adequate fuel levels, items left on the vehicle, vandalism to the bus interior and exterior, and must ensure all riders have exited the vehicle by the end of the route.
  • Inform Director of any issues or concerns about the bus.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by LJCC Management as needed.


  • Current Certification in CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer Service-related experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent needed.
  • Must have the ability to adhere to a flexible work schedule to accommodate Customer Service needs. 
  • Expectation is part-time work schedule of 15 - 16 hours per week. Includes weekdays, holidays, Saturdays and/or Sundays as needed. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

Demonstrate skills in customer care and service, and flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills necessary to work with all types of people.

Possess knowledge of safe driving and transportation.

Possess the ability to be sensitive to individual differences, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious experience, effectively manage time and responsibilities, and be a productive member of the team.


Work is primarily driving, sitting and standing due to responsibilities. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hand and arms and talk or hear. On occasion the employee must lift 35 lbs.
