Silver Shark swimmers are required to possess the ability to:

• Demonstrate a forward racing dive
• Demonstrate the ability to consistently push off underwater in an effective streamline

• Demonstrate the ability to maintain a positive attitude during workout 
• Demonstrate courteous behavior towards coaches and other swimmers

ISR goes beyond traditional swimming. ISR teaches very young children techniques designed to help them survive should they find themselves in the water alone. Only one parent per child allowed on the pool deck during these lessons. 

Lessons are 10 minutes in length at various times during the day.

Children under 1 year come for 4 weeks; children older than 1 year come for 6 weeks.

There are no specific "courses" listed below because this program is BY APPOINTMENT only. Please contact the LJCC to discuss available lesson times.

These classes help young children acclimate to the water with the comfort and security of parent/parents present. Children are introduced to basic water skills such as blowing bubbles, breath control, kicking, and floating. Students who are not potty trained should wear disposable swim diapers in addition to a reusable/washable swim diaper OR a disposable diaper with a snug-fitting swimsuit around the legs. Lifeguards are always on the pool deck during swim lessons.

Only one parent/caregiver is allowed in the water during class. All other parents are asked to please wait outside of the pool area during their child's swim lesson.

This is a year-round, USA Swimming competitive program by invitation only. Swimmers participating in this program have made swimming their sport of focus. The team practices 5 times per week, and attendance is expected and necessary for success. We appreciate that each child is unique, so we use an individual focus with our group training. Our goal is to empower each athlete to be the very best swimmer they can be.

Practice times vary and will be communicated by the coaches.

This is a year round, hybrid program serving as the transition from JAWS (recreational) to USA Swimming (competitive). Designed for those swimmers deciding whether swimming will be their sport of focus. This level competes in both JCC JAWS meets and BadFish USA Swimming meets. Practice times vary and will be communicated by the coaches. Attendance is expected at 4 practices per week. Swimmers must possess all abilities from Silver Shark.

Senior Shark swimmers are required to possess the ability to:

• Swim 200 yards of freestyle with bilateral breathing
• Swim 100 yards of backstroke with correct body position
• Swim 50 yards of breaststroke legally
• Swim 50 yards of butterfly legally
• Demonstrate legal turns in all four strokes
• Demonstrate a forward racing dive
• Demonstrate the ability to consistently push off underwater in an effective streamline
• Demonstrate the ability to go 5 meters of underwater dolphin kick in a streamline position
• Understand what a pace clock is and how it is used
• Demonstrate an understanding of stroke drills

Youth classes are great for children who have not had the opportunity to learn to swim at a young age as well as for those that wish to become better swimmers. Designed for children to learn in an environment appropriate to their age and developmental level. Suggested age to begin this journey is between 5-6 years of age.

Parents of swim school students are asked to wait off the pool deck during classes.

This program is open to LJCC members only. No drop-ins are allowed at this time. 

Preschool Swim classes are taught by highly skilled and trained instructors. Lessons are divided into groups with specific goals – basic beginner (never participated in formal swim instructions or uncomfortable in the water), beginner, intermediate and advanced. Select desired day/time of lesson; then our trained instructors will assign your child’s class level based on ability on the first day of class.

Prerequisite: Children must be fully potty-trained to enroll in this program. The LJCC reserves the right to cancel enrollment, with no refund, for any child who is not fully potty-trained.

Parents are asked to please wait outside of the pool area during their child's swim lesson. 

No return transfers back to CJP for any 3:30 pm preschool swim class. Please pick up at the LJCC Indoor Pool.
