Shalom Park Senior Living Project Update

Published Wednesday, October 16, 2019

The Shalom Park Senior Living project continues to move forward, and we’d like to keep our community informed on the progress!

As the Jewish New Year kicks off, so do new developments at Shalom Park. Aldersgate Life Plan Services is proud to work in collaboration with Shalom Park to provide Jewish and non-Jewish residents a new senior community unlike any other in the region. A community where every person is welcome and has the opportunity to be comfortable, rejuvenated, and inspired.

Some major milestones have been achieved recently, including a successful rezoning petition with the City of Charlotte planners and City Council members; approval to move forward from the North Carolina Department of Insurance; and the establishment of necessary governance guidelines.

Next steps involve securing pre-construction bonds, in the form of bank anticipation notes (BANS), which will enable us to move forward with marketing, sales, and design work. Assuming activity proceeds as planned, we anticipate accepting early deposits by January, 2020.

As the project continues to progress, we will provide you with ongoing updates and timelines.  If you have interest in becoming one of our charter residents or have additional questions, please contact the Foundation of Shalom Park at SPSL@shalomcharlotte.org / 704.554.2022, or Aldersgate at 704.532.5218. We will do our best to be as responsive and informative as possible!

Aldersgate has been serving the region for 70 years and has a long and rich history of advocating for the aging community. Initially organized by Methodists, Aldersgate's longstanding philosophy to enrich the mind, body, and spirit has contributed to the well-being of their residents and the greater Charlotte community.

Shalom Park, a 54-acre campus with its collection of schools, synagogues, community center, library, camps and services serves today as the center of Jewish life in greater Charlotte.  Shalom Park is owned and managed by the Foundation of Shalom Park, a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, committed to the continuity, sustainability, and vitality of Jewish life in Charlotte.
