Member Notice:
THE DAWSON AQUATICS COMPLEX ENTRANCE IS CLOSED through Friday, November 26th. During this time, all members must enter through the Main Entrance (Rotunda). All members will receive their health screening, proceed to the Member Hospitality Center (formally known as the Front Desk), apply an arm bracelet, and then scan through the LJCC secure access door.

Visual Arts

Let's go and have some messy fun!! We'd love to meet you so we can CREATE AND EXPLORE together!  There's clay and painting, cutting and pasting, drawing and sculpting going on over here!!

Early Childhood Classes

J Play: Learn through the Arts: 3-6 year olds
Make learning FUN through the arts! Reading, writing and math skills will be reinforced through play – with music, theatre, and visual arts as we bring favorite stories and books to life. Our littlest artists will enjoy experimenting with different art mediums as well as creative drama activities

Ceramics Classes

We have wonderful things happening in our ceramic studio. Consider an evening or daytime class..there are several to choose from for all skill levels. With any class   registration, you will have access to free studio time!  We are pleased to offer acrylic and oil painting classes this year. With our dedicated instructors, you can begin here or hone in on skills you are looking to enhance. To view the Fall Program Guide, click here.

Open Studio time will resume on Monday, September 14th.  Reservations now open.  For easy viewing, switch to LIST VIEW. 
You must be registered for a Fall class or Independent Study in order to sign up for Open Studio time.  Register for classes online and call the Customer Service at 704.366.5007 for Independent Study.

Wheel & Hand Building Combination Classes: Adults 18+
Combines both hand building AND wheel throwing techniques. AM or PM classes available!
Classes will vary slightly by instructor. Prices are per session. Fees include 25 lbs. of clay, use of electric kiln, glazes/underglazes, shelf space, and unlimited independent studio time when studio is not in use.

All Levels
Suitable for beginners without any prior clay experience, or for students that have prior knowledge and want to advance their skills. Learn to throw on the potter’s wheel or work to improve and enhance your throwing skills. We will also introduce basic hand building techniques such as coiling, joined slabs & drape molds, as well as glazing and other surface design possibilities.

These classes will be for the intermediate level students in hand building and/or wheel throwing. For the wheel throwers, a prior knowledge of centering and basic throwing skills is required. These classes are geared to improving and refining your techniques while developing your own personal style.
