This week, our Jewish Film Festival was grateful to partner with the Jewish Federation to bring the documentary “Supernova” to Shalom Park to share the story of the Hamas massacre at Israel’s Nova music festival on October 7th. After the film, we heard from survivors who shared their stories of that day. While all in the audience were profoundly affected by the scenes and the memories that the survivors shared, we were also inspired by one speaker’s message, “We Will Dance Again”.
At the conclusion of the event, the guests presented Michelle Rusgo our Jewish Film Festival Director with a ceramic flower from Israel, a “Calanit” (red anenome) Israel’s National Flower. The “Calanit” symbolizes life and the resiliency of the Jewish people. Our Charlotte community is taking part in the “Calaniot Before the Rain” art installation project to commemorate the victims of October 7.
