Exclusion & Readmission Guidelines After You Had or Likely Had COVID 19 or Exposed to COVID 19

As the pandemic evolves, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) is applying the most effective and appropriate public health tools for the current phase of the pandemic. As the United States and North Carolina emerge from the latest surge, the COVID-19 landscape looks different today than it did two years ago or even two months ago. More has been learned about the virus and effective tools to reduce the risk to people. Please read our updated COVID 19 exclusion and readmission guidelines and mask policy, effective Monday, June 13, 2022.

Exclusion & Readmission for individuals with COVID-19

  • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19 without a test must be excluded from the Levine JCC facility and programs for 5 days after the first day of symptoms or the first day of the positive test.*
  • Individuals may return to the Levine JCC facility and programs after 5 days if they have no symptoms or symptoms are improving and they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications, but must continue to wear a mask for an additional 5 days to minimize the risk of infecting others, unless an exemption to mask use applies.

*Children in a Levine JCC program under the age of 2, who are unable to mask, will be excluded from the Levine JCC programs and facility for 10 days.

If you a Levine JCC programming participant and test positive for COVID 19, please inform the programming director of the dates you attended the facility and the date of testing.

Exclusion for individuals who are exposed to COVID-19

  • NC DHHS no longer recommends excluding individuals after an identified exposure to COVID-19 (regardless of location of exposure) unless they develop symptoms.  Effective Monday, June 13th, Levine JCC Members, Community Members and Staff will no longer be excluded from the facility or programs for being exposed to a person who tests positive for COVID-19.

Individuals who have been exposed should:

  • Be tested on day 5 after exposure, unless the individual tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 90 days.
    • If the exposed individual develops symptoms, he/she should stay home and get tested immediately.
    • The exposed individual may also choose to test immediately upon notification of exposure to start isolation period sooner if the test is positive.

Face Covering Policy Update

Consistent and correct mask use adds a layer of protection for the wearer and others in their environment. NC DHHS no longer recommends universal mask requirements. Individuals must wear a well-fitting mask, unless an exemption to mask use applies, following a COVID-19 infection upon return to the Levine JCC for 5 days.  At this time, mask wearing is optional for, Members, Community Members and Staff. The Levine JCC will support any individual ages 2 years and older who chooses to wear a mask.

Services & Operations

What date will the JCC resume its normal operations?

The Levine JCC has resumed nearly all programs and services.

Did you issue refunds for the days the LJCC has suspended its normal operations?

LJCC Membership is a diverse and engaging experience; even outside the walls of Shalom Park, we continue to explore ways to serve the community, engage our members, and deliver a unique experience for all. Even when we are closed during these times, expenses remain, which make the membership dues even more critical.

During the initial suspension period of March 13 – 31, 2020, membership dues for March were allocated to the full compensation and benefits of every member of our LJCC Family of Staff, regardless of employment status, number of hours worked, or role in the agency. However, we recognize that some of our members have suffered job loss or other substantial financial impact as a result of COVID 19, far in excess of the half-month of membership fees, therefore for those in need, we will facilitate a refund or credit.  For all requests, please contact our membership department at [email protected].

What if the LJCC resumes its normal operations but I am facing financial hardship due to these challenging times and can no longer afford my membership?

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the LJCC offers scholarships and other financial accommodations. If you are facing financial hardship, please reach out to the LJCC’s Membership office by emailing [email protected] to inquire about assistance options.

JTENNIS Facility

What Tennis Programs are currently available?

All Tennis Programs have resumed.  For details, please click here to view the tennis page or please email [email protected]

When does the LJCC close the Tennis Courts?

The Levine JCC has two types of tennis courts; clay courts and hard surface courts.  During cold weather temperatures, the clay courts may freeze overnight, causing access water on the courts as the water makes it way to the surface.  During heavy rain, they courts may begin to flood over an inch from the surface.  In order to allow for the courts to properly dry, it may be necessary to close the courts. The Tennis Director will communicate via email to those who are scheduled to play on the clay courts if they are closed. For additional questions, please email [email protected]

Why are our courts closed when others are not?

Reopening the courts after rain or freezing temperatures is dependent on several factors and clay court recovery time is unique to each facility.  It is largely dependent on court level, shaded area, as well as surface temperatures. Elevated courts with full sun tend to reopen faster than those surrounded by trees, landscaping or berms.
