40 Faces of the J
Our experience at the JCC has been life-changing.
Last April, we enrolled my husband, Mark, in the pottery class, hoping it would aid in his recovery from the effects of 17 strokes and two open-heart surgeries.
The impact of the pottery class has surpassed our wildest dreams. Within the first month, we noticed improvements in his motor function, coordination, visual perception, cognitive skills, and overall well-being.
Mark no longer requires his walker in the classroom, and his outlook on life has done a complete 180.
Miss Mary is an exceptional teacher and life coach. Her gentle encouragement, patient hands-on instruction, and positive attitude have empowered my husband and given him the sense of community he so desperately needed.
The highlight of his week is Thursday pottery class.
His fellow students have embraced him wholeheartedly, making him feel like a vital part of the group. They have looked past his limitations and focused on his strengths.
We are blessed beyond measure by our JCC family and are deeply grateful for all they do to support Mark emotionally, physically, and mentally.
